Like so many other topics in current discourse, AI seems to be running along twin tracks.  On the high road, we have ads promising us a bright future where a computer can troubleshoot for us, write repetitive code and ad copy, diagnose routine illnesses, and generally tidy up after us while we all pursue whatever higher-purpose life-of-the-mind endeavors human beings are supposedly itching to do while we’re stuck mucking out the stalls of the world.

And then, on the low road, we get this shit.
