The line above, like many of my jokes in the 2010s, originated in tweet form and later got fleshed out as something I talked about onstage.  At one point I even considered building an hour around that title, as a lot of my material seemed tied to the concept that things were going to hell, perhaps irreversibly so, and how different people thought that for different reasons, and reacted to it in different ways.
