The further down the rabbit hole we go into a world where numbers mean nothing and lying is the default setting, the more I love a big liminal bunch of anonymous data or evidence. Give me a double helping of anything that points to an indisputable truth and, because of its anonymity, leaves no room for worrying over outliers, nitpicking percentages, or suffering a miscreant’s thumb on the scale.

Consider desire paths, a phenomenon with a name arguably sexier than they deserve. Those are just the organic, spontaneous, self-perpetuating walkways through grass, off paved sidewalks, where enough people have decided they’d rather travel than on the laid-out grid.
